Lyrical

Our curriculum embraces lyrical as a blend of jazz and ballet. We require our dancers to come in with a strong mind-body connection and a solid foundation in ballet technique. From this starting point, students will explore the art of interpretation, fluidity in motion, creativity, their personal style as artists, and dance as storytelling.

Please have your student wear fitted, clean clothing in which they can comfortably move throughout class. Shorts are allowed, but only if worn with tights underneath, as we will be sliding on the floor. We request dancers refrain from wearing baggy clothes, as instructors need to be able to assess proper technique. Please ensure clothing does not display anything offensive or inappropriate.

While lyrical can be done barefoot, it can make turning and sliding difficult for dancers, so we recommend a pair of dance socks, turners, or foot undies.  To protect our dance floors and the dancewear of our students, footwear should be put on in the lobby before class. Dance shoes are not permitted to be worn outside.

Please note: Dance attire is very important! However, we are most concerned with the wellbeing and comfort of our dancers, so if a student has any concerns about the required attire and/or any sensory issues that would conflict with our dress code, please reach out to Miss Grey so we can discuss a solution.
